Minimum borrower requirements Navy Federal Credit Union generally follows Fannie Mae’s underwriting guidelines for conventional mortgages. We’ve long said that when you join Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) they will do a hard pull on your credit report. If you open your membership over the phone a hard pull will almost certainly be done, especially if you discuss any other products such as a credit card (even if you don’t open those products)
