Employment Specialist

Community Connections Partnership's Employment Specialists/Direct Support Professional are at the heart of the exceptional service we offer to individuals with disabilities. Every day our Community Support Specialist dedicate their creativity and energy to helping the people we serve develop a higher level of independence and pursue meaningful employment in the community. Whether it’s communicating with local employers, discovering a person’s interest & skills (to identify a better employment match), or teaching the skills for independent living Community Support Specialist are there to guide and assist. Positions are available in the 7 county metro area in the areas of Supported Employment, Independent Living Skills, In-Home and Day Services.

The Employment Specialist position is ideal for people who are:

  • Skilled with internet search and Microsoft Word
  • Comfortable networking and talking to employers
  • Self-motivated and able to work one-on-one with individuals with disabilities
  • The ability to teach individuals the skills needed to live and work in the community
  • Experienced with individuals with disabilities and looking for a company that offers the potential to grow as a professional


  • Building positive professional relationships with community employers
  • Developing relationships with individuals served and identifying strengths and interests that can contribute to successful job placement
  • Encouraging and respecting personal choice and decision making
  • Documenting daily progress
  • Transporting individuals to and from work on a daily basis
  • Assisting with personal cares as needed
  • Teaching independent living skills
  • Supporting and helping an individual maintain a household
  • Develop and model appropriate social interactions when needed


  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Pass a motor vehicle record check with an acceptable driving record
  • Possess a reliable vehicle
  • Pass the Department of Human Services background check
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, oral and written
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Compensation: $13.75/hr

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 3:00 pm (35 hours per week)
